After acquiring a hospitality management Honors diploma from the Netherlands and Hotel Management Honors from Cyprus, Junaid moved to Canada in the 1990s to finish a Business Administration degree from Brandon University. Upon moving to Calgary, he worked as coordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society for over two years, contributing in the fight against Cancer.
When this did not suffice his desire to give back to the community, Junaid stepped into the competitive world of real estate in 2002. He has since then ridden the wave of the real estate market and has continued to learn, grow and excel in what he does. For his real estate accomplishments, Junaid has been inducted into Re/Max Hall of Fame. He has also won Re/Max Platinum Club award, Re/Max 100% Club award, Re/Max Executive Club award and the prestigious Million Dollar Club award from the Calgary Real Estate Board multiple times.
Being multilingual, his clientele base includes people from all walks of life - from lawyers to doctors, from oil and gas executives to businessmen, from first time homebuyers to well established investors. While at Brandon Junaid was elected to the University Senate, wrote in the student newspaper, sat on different senate committees and participated in Shinerama Cystic Fibrosis fundraising. He also served as a Board of director for Disabilities Developmental Resource centre of Calgary, Heart of the NE Community Solutions Resource Center, Sunrise Community Resource Center and a cabinet member for Brandon University's $8.5 million capital campaign. He currently sits on the boards for Sunvillage and Cool Family Solutions and helps Passages to Canada and Volunteer Calgary as a speaker. He also volunteers with Immigrant Services Calgary, teaches Economics for Success program at Junior Achievement Alberta, Judges at the Annual Calgary Youth Science Fair and helps people one on one with their job search, resume/cover letter writing, interview and follow up skills as an employment coach. Junaid was appointed on the Board of Governors for Alberta Real Estate Foundation and on the Condo and Education Committees for the Calgary Real Estate Board in 2010 out of 5500 Calgary realtors. Junaid is also the Vice Chairperson of the Business Practices Committee for the Calgary Real Estate Board and sits on the Commercial Committee, Town and Acreage Committee and was handpicked as one of the few real estate industry members for 20/20 Forum by Real Estate Council of Alberta. In addition, Junaid also volunteers for the fundraising committee for Wellspring Calgary - a lifeline to Cancer Support and is a Mentor for the Immigrant Entrepreneur Mentorship Program in Calgary.
In 1999, the SAIT Students Association created a community award in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Students Association and volunteer work for SAIT Community. In 2004, he was selected as one of three finalists for Immigrant of Distinction Award. This award is presented to an immigrant who has provided meritorious services to the City of Calgary and the immigrant community as a volunteer. In the same year Junaid was selected as an Alumni speaker for new and returning students at Brandon University. In 2005, Junaid was featured as a success story in a documentary by Alberta Health Services. In 2010, Junaid was a guest speaker at the Chronic Pain Centre - Alberta Health Services at their 10th anniversary celebration. In 2012, Brandon University honored Junaid with Distinguished Service Alumni award.
With this and much more in his repertoire, Junaid continues to stay active, stay involved and strive towards building a healthy community. Needless to say, he is a firm believer in the saying: "the road to success is always under construction".
